Tom 13 serii „Ziemianie polscy” jest kolejną częścią wieloletniego projektu dokumentującego dzieje polskiego ziemiaństwa XX wieku poprzez losy rodzin, osób i majątków. Publikacja obejmuje 94 biogramy, w zdecydowanej większości poświęcone rodzinom dotąd nieopracowywanym w poprzednich tomach serii.
Zgromadzone hasła biograficzne ukazują przedstawicieli ziemiaństwa na tle głębokich przemian społecznych, politycznych i kulturowych XIX i XX wieku. Autorzy rekonstruują drogi edukacyjne i zawodowe, aktywność gospodarczą, społeczną i patriotyczną, a także doświadczenia związane z wojnami, represjami, przesiedleniami i utratą własności ziemskiej. Szczególną cechą tomu jest wyraźna reprezentacja rodzin pochodzących z dawnych ziem północno-wschodnich Rzeczypospolitej.
Istotnym walorem tomu jest szerokie wykorzystanie źródeł prywatnych – archiwów rodzinnych, wspomnień, korespondencji i relacji potomków – które nadają biogramom wymiar indywidualny i międzypokoleniowy. Publikacji towarzyszyć będzie bogaty materiał ilustracyjny pochodzący ze zbiorów rodzinnych, obejmujący fotografie, dokumenty i pamiątki, pogłębiający dokumentacyjny i poznawczy charakter tomu.



Volume 13 of the “Polish Landowners” series constitutes another instalment of a long-term scholarly project devoted to documenting the history of the Polish landed gentry in the twentieth century. The volume contains 94 biographical entries, most of which focus on families not previously covered in earlier parts of the series.
The biographical studies present members of the landed class against the backdrop of profound social, political, and cultural transformations of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. They reconstruct educational and professional careers, economic and social activity, and experiences shaped by wars, repression, displacement, and the loss of landed property. A distinctive feature of this volume is the strong representation of families originating from the former north-eastern territories of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth.
A significant strength of the volume lies in the extensive use of private sources, including family archives, memoirs, correspondence, and testimonies of descendants, which provide an individual and intergenerational perspective. The book is accompanied by a rich collection of illustrations from family holdings—photographs, documents, and memorabilia—enhancing its documentary and scholarly value.



Le tome 13 de la série « Les propriétaires fonciers polonais » constitue une nouvelle étape d’un vaste projet consacré à l’histoire du milieu foncier polonais au XXᵉ siècle. L’ouvrage rassemble 94 notices biographiques, dont la majorité concerne des familles encore inédites dans les volumes précédents de la série.
Les études biographiques présentent les représentants de la noblesse terrienne dans le contexte des profondes transformations sociales, politiques et culturelles des XIXᵉ et XXᵉ siècles. Les auteurs retracent les parcours de formation et d’activité professionnelle, l’engagement économique, social et patriotique, ainsi que les expériences marquées par les guerres, les répressions, les déplacements forcés et la perte des propriétés foncières. Le volume se distingue par une forte présence de familles originaires des anciennes régions nord-orientales de la République des Deux Nations.
L’un des atouts majeurs de l’ouvrage réside dans l’exploitation de sources privées – archives familiales, mémoires, correspondance et témoignages de descendants – qui confèrent aux notices une dimension individuelle et intergénérationnelle. Le tome est enrichi d’un important corpus iconographique provenant de collections familiales, comprenant photographies, documents et objets de mémoire, qui renforce sa valeur documentaire et scientifique.
